Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, Bryn Swartz brings a unique perspective to his work as a workers’ compensation litigator with HammondTownsend.
Raised in the coalfields of Southwest Virginia, Jason has a passion for helping injured workers navigate the complex workers’ compensation system.
Tammy Furry has worked as a paralegal since 1997, and has been a workers’ compensation paralegal since 2002. She has been with HammondTownsend since 2009. She is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association for Paralegals, a Virginia Notary and has participated in workers’ compensation seminars and training sessions.
Jo has been in the workers’ compensation field over 25 years, having started her career with an insurance company. While working as an insurance adjustor, Jo crossed paths with Mr. Townsend. She started working for him in 1998 and has been with him ever since.
Ann Carlisle Knicely joined HammondTownsend in June 2014. A graduate of Virginia Tech, Ann holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication. She is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and serves as a Notary in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Based in the Harrisonburg office, Ann specializes in workers’ compensation.
Melissa Howell is a Workers’ Comp Paralegal in the Harrisonburg office. She has been in the workers’ comp field since 2005 and has been with HammondTownsend since 2013. She is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association for Paralegals, a Virginia Notary and has participated in workers’ comp seminars and training sessions.
Tracy has been a workers’ compensation paralegal since 2008. She joined HammondTownsend in 2013 and works in our Roanoke office. Prior to being a workers’ compensation paralegal she worked in the Human Resources and Safety Management field for several years specializing in workers’ compensation. She is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association for Paralegals and is a Notary of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Meredith Townsend is a paralegal in the Charlottesville office. She joined HammondTownsend in 2014, as an Administrative Assistant.
Jennifer is a Paralegal in our Roanoke office. She comes to us from another law firm in North Carolina, where she was a legal assistant and receptionist. Jennifer attended Campbell University and plans on completing her studies. She is a notary for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Jennifer is also bilingual and assists with translation and interpretation.
Crista joined HammondTownsend in 2017 as a paralegal in the Richmond office. Crista comes to us from ReidGoodwin in Richmond where she worked as a workers’ compensation paralegal. She also worked at Reinhardt Harper Davis in their workers’ compensation department.
Jason joined HammondTownsend in 2018 as a paralegal in the Harrisonburg office. Jason comes to us with a wealth of experience. He has worked as a paralegal since 2001. Jason has also been the Senior Pastor at Tree of Life Ministries.
Rochelle Bosley Larson
Rochelle Bosley Larson joined HammondTownsend as the office manager in 2012 and brings a wealth of experience to the firm. She became the firm’s Administrator in 2018. A Paralegal for twenty-five years, Rochelle was an Office Manager and Diversion Investigator for the Department of Justice/ Drug Enforcement Administration and a prior Volunteer Coordinator of Victim-Witness Program in Prince William County, Virginia. Rochelle holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Illinois. She is also a graduate of the DOJ/DEA/FBI Academy, a Private Investigator and Notary in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. She works in the Fishersville office.
Director of Marketing
After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Political Science, Karen worked in government and politics on both the state and national levels. Karen has worked in public relations with labor unions, representing the rights of workers.
For the past 10 years, Karen has worked in media advertising in print and television. In those roles, she quickly learned that she most enjoyed the marketing of law firms.
After working with HammondTownsend for 5 years as their media representative, she joined the firm in 2014 as the Director of Marketing.
Tammy Harris is the HammondTownsend receptionist in the Fishersville office. She’s been with the firm since 2012.
Heather Jarrell joined HammondTownsend in 2017 as an Administrative Assistant. Heather comes to us with experience working in the restaurant industry, in the Augusta County school system, and the YMCA. Heather graduated from Radford University with a degree in Criminal Justice and studied abroad for a semester in Australia.
Camellia Vail joined HammondTownsend in 2017 as an administrative assistant in our Fishersville office. Before joining HammondTownsend she worked at the Augusta County Sheriff’s office where she worked in records’ management, indexing and records’ maintenance. Camellia also worked for the Shenandoah Valley Juvenile Center.
Jessica joined HammondTownsend in 2017 as an Administrative Assistant in the Fishersville office. Previously, she worked at Augusta Health, State Farm and MedExpress. She is currently working on her B.S. in Business Management at Western Governor’s University.
Cheryl joined HammondTownsend in 2018. She comes to us from Kalbaugh Pfund & Messersmith, where she worked as a legal assistant in their workers’ compensation and civil litigation department for approximately 9 years. She has also worked in the real estate industry as a settlement officer.
