Bryn Swartz (Lawyer)

Bio

Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, Bryn Swartz brings a unique perspective to his work as a litigator with HammondTownsend. As a former defense attorney, he spent several years representing insurance companies in Workers’ Compensation cases. He knows the tricks they use, and how to avoid the pitfalls that jeopardize even the most straightforward Workers’ Compensation cases.

Bryn graduated from Randolph-Macon College cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He then earned his Juris Doctor magna cum laude from the University of Richmond School of Law. He clerked for the judges of the Henrico Circuit Court before becoming a state prosecutor with the Computer Crime Section of the Virginia Office of the Attorney General. There, he secured dozens of guilty pleas and verdicts in online child abuse and exploitation cases.

Throughout his career, Bryn has handled hundreds of Workers’ Compensation cases. Upon leaving the public sector, he joined a Richmond practice representing injured persons. He then went to work for a defense firm, where he represented insurance companies and employers. This work led Bryn to realize his true passion was in helping people, not denying them. He was thrilled to join HammondTownsend in 2016, where he uses his unique experience to help injured workers obtain the benefits they deserve.

Outside the office, Bryn has a wide variety of hobbies and interests. He enjoys reading, working on his car (a Subaru WRX), playing with his dogs, cooking, traveling, and spending time with his wife, Paula. The two live in Hanover, Virginia with their dogs and birds.
